Hello.

Space includes photos captured by me, my drawings and paintings, and other miscellaneous art-related projects. Though still a noob, they are, after all, products of my boredom, hoping that something good will come out of it, some day that may be one will turn out to be some kind of masterpiece (: Enjoy.

Photo 73/365.

This is Day Three of Penang on 08/11/2010.

Forgo-ed the breakfast buffet provided by the three-star hotel, and had prata or roti canai as the Malaysians call it and teh tarik instead. Then to Penang's Botanical Gardens. Took a tram and dropped off. Climbed up stone stairs into the jungle leaving our parents behind because my mum was not very favorable of climbing and trekking. I was this close to a huge monitor lizard, which was blocking my way. It was more scared of me than I was of it. My brother shouted "Marco!" and my sister replied "Polo!" It was hot and we were pretty much bathed in sweat. When we finally reached the juncture that led us down, I almost "mud" board my way through because of all the slippery moss, mud and wet fallen leaves on the path, I couldn't help but to stretch my arms out in an attempt to flail or fly out of balance like some manic boarder, if you get what I mean. I didn't fall though. Even if I did, hey you don't want to die without leaving a few scars.

Next, we visited the butterfly farm, which was pretty amazing to me. My favorite kind would have to be the Nymphalidae because of the colors and how the wings are shaped. Apart from the butterflies, there were the scorpions, which glowed under UV light, the Malaysian tarantula and disgusting but kinda cool-looking geckos. There were of course some other insect species too but I didn't pay attention to the details.

After all the nature and geek stuff, my dad drove along the beach area and it was a long drive. We visited the floating mosque. I love the inside where the prayer hall was, it was beautiful. The intricate details and geometrical designs. You just wanna stare at all the precision all day long, while taking it all in. At this point my sister, Munierah was already getting pretty sick. So, our plans to walk on the beach and dip our weary feet in the water was cancelled.

After our zuhr and asar prayers at the mosque, we had kandar rice for lunch. Kandar rice was quite popular in Penang. It was being sold at Indian-Muslim stalls almost everywhere we go. When lunch was done, we did a little shopping around the area. Then off we go to Kedah because it was our last day with the littlest sister, Amierah and we were leaving for Singapore early the next day.

In Kedah, we went to Tesco where my littlest sister acted like an adult, grocery shopping. Yeah, the instant noodle aisle was her place to go. At the house, my parents got to check out her room and talked for a bit. Then it was finally time to leave. On the way back to the hotel, dad filled up the tank. The last night in our hotel room, my sibs and I, had instant noodles, chocolate cake and sushi for dinner, and P. Ramlee on TV.

All in all, it was a pretty awesome weekend :D
